Damn snow!
The weekend was pretty rainy and cold (yuck). In some ways it was nice (ie: we could hang out together indoors and not feel guilty) but we also missed out on playing outside (the boys) and getting the yard ready for summer (A and I). OK, I can handle cold and rainy but this morning there was:
See the white line along the fence?? Blah!
I had to include the orchids on our windowsill because, otherwise, it would be too depressing ;)

Keeping it simple
Wish I could! Do you ever get the urge to just focus on the basics? Keep things stream lined? Keep them simple?
Man! I wish.....
I'll let you know how it goes ;)
PS: We managed to not owe anything for our taxes! Whew!

A recent summary
I keep meaning to come back here to write but time seems to fly ;)
In a nutshell: I applied for another job, felt good about this potential job, went for a very luke-warm presentation, felt like I did not get job, then officially did not get job. Boo! Felt like crap, felt stressed out, felt a bit better, weather became warmer, felt even better.
So, now I am here: O turns 2 next month. A and I have both applied for other jobs (at the same place). I am still waiting to hear about funding.... You know- same old, same old....
It would almost make everyone want to be a scientist.....NOT ;)

It arrived!
My top arrived from Germany and I love, love, love it (as much due to the mode of "purchase" and the lovely woman behind it as the top itself). This is what the pattern looks like (except picture the top on an adult):

Now all I need is the weather to go with it! ;)

Back to barter....
I saw a shirt from Duns that would be perfect for summertime (yes, that is on my mind a lot these days). I was told from Duns that it was made in adult sizes exclusively for 2 stores: 1 in Germany and 1 in Luxemborg. Anyway, I contacted the German store and asked if there was a way to order the shirt and pay for it by either paypal or credit card (there were instructions for a bank transfer but Canada is severely behind the times when it comes to international bank transfers!). Anyway, she did not have paypal and did not use credit cards :( but she responded with an option to "trade" something. Yes, trade! She would ship the shirt to me and I would ship something back to her. How cool! Such a personal way to "purchase" something and, wow, trust involved! She requested something Harry Potter for her 9 year old daughter so, yesterday, I picked up a movie sticker book and 2 small activity kits which contain a small HP-related trinket and more stickers.
I am so excited about this. What a return back to the barter-days! I'll let you know how it goes!
